FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kearney, NE – September 19, 2025 – The Kearney City Council approved the sale of approximately 16 acres in Tech One Crossing to Shamrock Data LLC for development of a next generation Sequitor Edge Data Center. Kearney was selected for the site of the data center after an exhaustive market analysis that identified a significant unmet need by multiple local businesses and organizations requiring sophisticated data services.
“We’re thrilled to reach agreement with the City of Kearney to acquire this parcel. The location is strategically placed near NPPD’s energy infrastructure and will take advantage of its proximity to fiber optic cabling. It is an ideal location from which Sequitor Edge will be able to serve a regional customer base,” said Dan Fuhrman, CEO. “We couldn’t be more pleased with the support demonstrated by the city, and the local business community; Kearney will be a leader among other small cities in the mushrooming technology sector. “
Edge computing is a distributed computing model that moves data processing and storage closer to the source of data generation instead of relying on centralized and less secure cloud data centers. This decentralization reduces latency and bandwidth usage by processing data locally, which leads to faster response times and more efficient operations for real-time applications.
Edge data center users include organizations that utilize industrial automation, self-driving vehicles, medical imaging, autonomous agriculture, telecommunications, financial services, smart cities, and AI applications. In contrast to single-tenant mega data centers, decentralized edge centers serve multiple tenants and consume far less energy. They’re scaled to the local market and contribute to a community’s future business competitiveness and economic development viability.
For tenants of the Central Nebraska Edge Data Center, a 40,000sf facility, the advantages include aligning with advanced technology that offers state-of-the-art capabilities that keep pace with the breakneck pace of change in this sector. Moreover, tenants gain protections through unmatched tier-3 security and redundancy, flexible integration strategies, and highly efficient operations.
Factors that impact an organization’s performance and chances of success in the digital world can be clustered in five main categories where Sequitor Edge LLC provides enhanced value:
- Proximity: diminished time and distance data must travel
- Risks: protected from power outages, network outages, cybersecurity threats, and physical security
- Expert Services: support for AI platforms, AI pilots GPU servers, Fractional appliances, Leasing and financing
- Customization: Power management, Maintenance, Monitoring, Updates, Private networks
- Energy Usage: Aggregated to achieve efficiency
Sequitor Edge LLC delivers superior performance in all five sectors. Several local Kearney businesses and organizations have already signed non-binding letters of intent to become tenants of the facility when it becomes operational in early 2027. Design of the facility has been led by Morrissey Engineering of Omaha, a leading firm in the data center sector.
